Fauna montevideo
We are passionate about design. We love to combine elements and create objects that will define spaces that 'feel good'. At FAUNA, we have meticulously handpicked every piece, a result of several years of selecting, restoring and collecting. Good taste and warmth characterize our work and is what we have aimed to achieve at FAUNA. We have created a space where fine design and details abound all around. Mid Century furnishings, Art Deco treasures and other miscellaneous antiques coexist with contemporary art and several custom made pieces to form an eclectic mix that make this accommodation so unique.
We have updated the buildings facilities with some of the latest hardware. Carrara marble stairways and colored vitreaux coexist with super fast WiFi hot spots and Inverter Technology Air Conditioning, original plaster crown moldings and mosaic tiled floors are side to side with Smart TV Led Screens and digital keypads for opening doors. We supply ourselves with hot water through a bio mass wood pellet boiler located on the roof, the very best in energy efficiency. Every one of our rooms and lamps is lit by LED lights, ideal lighting for enhancing the hundred year old American pine wood floors.

LOCATION
Fauna is a small oasis strategically located on the main pedestrian strip of Ciudad Vieja and just a few feet away from the main points of interest in the city.
ROOMS
We offer 10 suites with private bathrooms. Each room has its own character and is equipped with a SMART TV, in-room Inverter AirCon, a desk / work area, a small safe and a small fridge, together with complimentary mineral water, and an electric kettle with tea and coffee.
ABOUT THE HOSTS
We personally manage our property and work closely with our guests to ensure that all your needs are met. Even though we are not permanently on site we will be available to you 24 hours through texting, Whatsapp or through this site. We will be happy to reply to all your questions, or suggest whichever activity or restaurant you wish to explore.
All of our doors have coded numeric key pads which can be opened either by your personal magnetic entry card or by your personal code. This conveniently allows you to arrive at your convenience, without the need to coordinate picking up keys.
USEFUL INFO & restrictions
- No babies or children under the age of 12
- We love pets! But they are not allowed in FAUNA.
- No smoking is allowed anywhere in the building.
- No unregistered guests admitted in the building.
- Stairs must be used to access FAUNA. There is no elevator. We are located on a two story building.
- We are located on a pedestrian street. There is no parking in our building, but parking is allowed in the side street. There are several paid parking buildings one block away.
Getting here
All flights arrive at 'Aeropuerto Internacional de Carrasco' (MVD) which is at the other end of town. The best way to get to Ciudad Vieja is by UBER, between 30 -45 minutes depending on traffic..
All buses arrive at 'Terminal Tres Cruces'. Taking an UBER to Ciudad Vieja, should take between 8 or 10 minutes depending on traffic.
Arriving by car from Colonia, you will be entering the city through RUTA 1. Drive all the way to the 'Puerto' and navigate up Colon street all the way to Sarandi.
Arriving from the eastern coastal towns through the RUTA INTERBALNEARIA, drive to the Rambla all the way towards Centro and Ciudad Vieja.
HISTORY
Located in the heritage quarter of the city within a 1927 historic building. This building is an architecturally significant gem and a classic example of Montevideo's beautiful architecture from the early 1900's. The entire building has been fully restored in 2016.
AMENITIES
Besides an electric kettle in each room, we offer Lavazza Espresso Coffee in the living room area. We don't serve breakfast at FAUNA, but there is always a selection of fresh fruit on the table. Complimentary drinks are available at the minibar in the reception area.
We are pleased to offer our guests bath products that have not been tested on animals.
